BRAND NEW! Wee Kids PADDLE | TRIKE | TROT Mini Triathlon
New for 2011, we will kick off our Championship Race day on Sunday, July 24 with Paddle | Trike | Trot for ages 2 - 4. Swim 25Y in our indoor heated 25Y pool then run to the gym to bike 1 lap before they dismount and run 1 lap. Parent participant required. This is not a chip timed event. The cost for Paddle|Trike|Trot is $10 per participant. Registrations are taken in advance through day of event at HFFA. Shirts are guaranteed for the first 50 participants.

Join us for the 4th annual and nations largest USAT certified Kids Triathlon Series as it returns to Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics. Teach kids to get outside and play a whole new way while learning lifelong healthy habits.
COURSE INFO
SWIM: Each participant has one lane and swims their distance in that lane only. If the heat consists of more than 18 kids then swimmers may share a lane. Shoes & shirt and/or number should be left on the water park side of the pool, where all swimmers exit the pool. Any child may use a kickboard to assist them in the swim.
BIKE: The bike course goes counter clockwise around the paved path at Huntersville Athletic Park. For the 11-14 year olds we will go along one side of Verhoeff Road for the 1 mile stretch around cones and back to the bike pick up and drop off area.
RUN: The run course is completed on the inner field of the bike course at Huntersville Athletic Park.

4 - 6 year olds: 25Y Swim | .3 mile Bike | 100Y Run
7 - 8 year olds: 50Y Swim | 1 mile Bike | .3 mile Run
9 - 10 year olds: 75Y Swim | 1 mile Bike | .3 mile Run
11 - 12 year olds: 100Y Swim | 2 mile Bike | .75 mile Run
13 - 14 year olds: 200Y Swim | 2 mile Bike | 1 mile Run
TRANSITIONS
TRANSITION 1 - SWIM TO BIKE
As your child completes their swim, volunteers will assist them as needed - parents are not allowed to assist their child, they are allowed to volunteer and help all children. The participants will exit the pool and run along the flagged path across the road to the dirt path leading to Huntersville Athletic Park where their bike is parked.
TRANSITION 2 - BIKE TO RUN
When your child has completed their bike leg they will drop off their bike at the designated spot staffed by volunteers who will assist them. They will proceed to their run on the soccer field inside of the paved path at the Huntersville Athletic Park, running counter-clockwise around the cones. When they complete their run they will enter the finish line shoot staffed by volunteers to assist them.
KIDS FUN RUN
Kids ages 1 -6 can participate in the fun run. The fun run starts on the corner of the field and runs through the actual finish line. The fun run is not chip timed. The cost of the fun run is $5.00 | Race day registration only.

A participant orientation meeting will be held at 4:45pm on each Saturday race day in the
pool area. Please be registered with all
equipment in place and sitting in the
bleachers on the WEST side of the 50M pool (opposite of the water park side). We will cover as many details as
possible about the race and questions will be encouraged. A representative from USAT will be on hand to discuss issues & concerns relative to rules & safety. We
encourage everyone to attend.
EVENT RULES
Bikes- All bikes must be set up in the transition area no later than 30 minutes before race start time.
Parents - No parents will be allowed in the swim/bike/run transition areas, on the race course, or to assist their child unless they sign up as a volunteer to assist all participants.
Equipment- Approved CPSC/ANSI/SNELL bike helmet must be worn. All bikes must have handlebar plugs or grips that cover the ends of the handlebar (tape is not acceptable). Swim cap that is provided must be worn during the swim. PFD’s and/or kickboards are allowed.
Age- All participants must be 14 years or younger and within the age range indicated for the race.
Timing- Timing chips will be handed out at Packet Pick Up and must be worn on the left ankle for the entire duration of the race; then returned at the end of the race.
Refund Policy- 50% of your entry fee will be refunded until April 1, 2011. No refunds will be issued after this date. Event entries are non-transferable between persons, events or years.
Weather- In the event of inclement weather the event will be postponed until 8:45am, if the weather does not pass the event will be changed to a duathlon. If a duathlon is not possible or the event is cancelled prior to the scheduled weekend due to inclement weather, the event will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2012 event. No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
